I have litigation
experience in insurance defense, plaintiff's personal injury, criminal
defense, mechanics liens and contract disputes.
Trials
I have tried cases to a jury in Monterey County, Santa Cruz County, Santa
Clara County and Alameda County. I have represented defendants in criminal
jury trials and plaintiffs in personal injury jury trials.
I have tried cases to judges in Monterey County and Santa Clara County.
These trials all involved breaches of contract or breach's of rental agreements.
In these cases I have represented both plaintiffs and defendants.
Settlement
Conferences
I have prepared many cases for trial that settled at pretrial settlement
conferences. In the cases in which I represented plaintiffs, all of these
court settlements were better than the last offer in negotiation. I also
served as a settlement conference judge pro tem in the Santa Clara Municipal
Court for four years. I assisted the parties in settling in the majority
of cases I heard as a pro tem.
Binding Arbitrations
I have represented plaintiffs in binding arbitration hearings in Santa
Clara County. I have also been chosen as an arbitrator in five binding
arbitrations in Santa Clara County.
Judicial Arbitrations
I represented plaintiffs in judicial arbitrations in Santa Cruz County,
Santa Clara County and Alameda County. I also served as a judicial arbitrator
for the Santa Clara County Superior Court for seven years. Thirty percent
of my awards were either binding or went to judgment because neither party
rejected my award.
Mediation
I have represented plaintiffs in meditations before sitting judges, retired
judges at JAMS as well as private attorney mediators. When I lived in
Monterey I was a mediator at the Monterey Community Boards for three years.
Depositions
I have represented both plaintiffs and defendants in depositions. I have
defended my clients in depositions and I have taken the depositions of
defendants, witnesses, police officers, medical providers, and retained
experts
Written Discovery
I have drafted written discovery and responded to discovery requests in
all my litigation cases.
